Description

** For Sale By Online Auction**

There's something rather special about arriving home to complete peace and quiet. The gentle sounds of birdsong, far-reaching countryside views, wonderful walks quite literally from your doorstep and, just up the lane, the welcoming atmosphere of a traditional country pub. Triscombe Cottage offers all of this whilst remaining surprisingly well connected, making it the perfect escape from the pace of modern life without sacrificing convenience. Offered for sale with no onward chain.

Originally constructed in the early 1900s as a pair of humble workers' cottages serving a nearby country house, the property was thoughtfully reimagined around a century later to create the substantial family home enjoyed today. Today, it presents an exciting opportunity for a new owner to sympathetically modernise and personalise a home of genuine character, combining generous proportions with a wealth of original features and an exceptional countryside setting.

Stepping inside, it's immediately apparent that the property has retained many of the details that make period homes so enduringly popular. Stripped timber floors, original panelled doors, beautiful stained-glass windows, feature fireplaces and a wealth of character create a home full of warmth and authenticity. Whilst certain elements would now benefit from updating to suit modern tastes, the cottage offers an exceptional canvas on which to create a truly special family home.

The welcoming entrance hall provides access to the principal reception rooms and is complemented by a useful utility room and ground floor cloakroom.

The dual-aspect kitchen/breakfast room forms the heart of the home, enjoying delightful views across the surrounding countryside before opening into the garden room. Bathed in natural light, this wonderful space provides an ever-changing outlook throughout the seasons and creates an effortless connection between the house and its gardens.

Designed with family life in mind, the property offers an exceptional range of reception space. The elegant dining room is ideal for entertaining, whilst the generous living room centres around an impressive exposed brick fireplace housing a wood-burning stove, creating a wonderfully cosy atmosphere during the colder months. A separate study provides an ideal home office, whilst the additional playroom offers excellent flexibility and could equally serve as a snug, hobbies room or further reception room depending on individual requirements.

A bespoke staircase rises beneath a striking vaulted and galleried ceiling to the first-floor landing, creating one of the home's most impressive architectural features.

The first floor offers four generous double bedrooms, providing excellent accommodation for growing families and visiting guests alike. Three bedrooms benefit from en suite facilities, whilst the remaining bedroom is served by a spacious family bathroom, creating a practical and versatile layout that will suit a variety of lifestyles.

Outside, the property truly comes into its own. Occupying approximately 0.65 acres, the gardens are beautifully established, wonderfully private and incredibly peaceful. Mature trees, expansive lawns and thoughtfully positioned seating areas provide countless places to relax, entertain or simply enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside. On still days, the gentle, distant whistle of the West Somerset Steam Railway drifts across the valley, providing a wonderfully nostalgic soundtrack that's synonymous with this special part of Somerset. Whether it's children exploring, keen gardeners creating their own haven or long summer evenings spent outdoors with family and friends, the gardens offer a lifestyle that's increasingly difficult to find.

Complementing the house is a substantial modern double garage, together with generous driveway parking.

Triscombe enjoys an enviable position at the foot of the Quantock Hills National Landscape, one of Somerset's most treasured beauty spots. Countless walking, cycling and riding routes begin almost from the front door, whilst the nearby country pub provides the perfect destination after a day spent exploring. Despite its idyllic rural setting, excellent road links ensure Taunton, Bridgwater and the wider West Somerset coastline remain within easy reach, offering the very best of country living without feeling isolated.

Offering immense character, adaptable accommodation, beautiful gardens and enormous scope to sympathetically enhance and personalise, Triscombe Cottage represents a rare opportunity to create an exceptional family home in one of West Somerset's most desirable rural settings.
